This is a Lego model to demonstrate the idea behind Thomas Alva Edison’s “Kinetoscope”. I made it for a school project on famous inventors. Edison was my choice.

The “Kinetoscope” was an early motion picture machine. People peeped through a small hole while a film role was played.

On my model people could look through a peep hole at the top to see a Lego “film” play as they turned a crank on the side.

Here you can see it with the top off with the Lego “film” (black and white).

My “filmstrip” was made of Lego with 12 frames showing a white line going from one side to the other.

When people saw it play it gave a very good illusion of how it was to look at a motion picture in a “Kinetoscope”

I made cranks on both sides of the model, so it could be used by both right and left handed students.

It was a very popular display!

And now for the big test!
What was Thomas Alva Edisons best invention?
