Diving

I started jumping from a diving board at the age of three. Four years old I was jumping from the three meters board.

At six I took my first head dive from the three meter board. Later that year I enrolled into the Beijing Technical Sports School. That’s were Chinas countless swimming stars are trained. So I actually train together with World Champions and Olympic stars such as Fu Ming Xia. Most time is spent in the Gym.

I have progressed slowly but steadily. Today I have tried all regular heights: 0 meters, 1 meters, 1.5 meters, 3 meters, 5 meters, 7.5 meters and 10 meters - head first!

Perfect dive from 10 meters

Occasionally I jump from higher points - like from the roof of a ship or from a cliff.

High diving is fun, but you have to be careful. Water is not soft. Already at three meters a missed jump can hurt a lot. At 7.5 meters your hands are pushed into your face if you do not keep them tightly together. Ten meters is actually not much different from 7.5 meters. Here the water will whip your heals red, if you fail to keep your legs straight. After three or four jumps the receiving hand gets red. There is also a slight pain when the ear drums are pushed in as you descend deep into the water. I use a wet suit to protect my body when jumping from ten meters. Once I missed ten meters slightly my suit was almost torn of my arm!
