On February 22, 1999 I climbed to Low´s Peak the Summit of Mt. Kinabalu at 4.095,2 m. It was the end of a two day climb - and it was tough.

I was by far the youngest at the peak that day. I wonder how many have reached the Summit by themselves younger than I:
9 years - 6 months - 10 days.

After this I know I do not want to be a mountain climber.

07:15 at Low´s Peak
Too tired to look good.

Looking up at Low´s Peak. Some people give up climbing the last part of the summit.

About half way up I suddenly felt sick. But after a while I stumbled the last meters up to the Summit Peak.

The foot of Low´s Peak

Looking at the skies below. It was raining heavily at the foot of the mountain.

6:30 we reach the plateau

On the plateau there were lots of good views. On the way down the sun would warm us.

Low´s Gully to the right is one of the most difficult Gully´s to climb in the world. Five soldiers almost got killed trying to go down there a few years ago.

Climbing the  rope

The climb is more tiring than difficult. So I enjoyed all our breaks.

A break coming down

We passed five eco zones on the way up. On the way up first day the sun fried us. Next day it rained and rained and rained.

Very wet
