Meet “Mind”. It was Victor’s first Lego robot, built from the Lego Mindstorms kit using “Robolab” software from Lego Dacta. Dad and Wilhelm helped build most of the robot to make it meet Victor’s spec’s.

“Mind” is a bumper car type robot. First it went straight ahead for few seconds. Then the front bumper was made to make it stop if it hit something. Last step was changing the program so “Mind” would reverse for one second after the bumper had been activated.

Because “Mind” has three wheels it is able to get out of most corners just by backing up.

Problems with this model are mostly due to Dad’s poor design efforts; low ground clearance; rubber band flies off; rough edges get caught by chair legs; robot falls over and rear wheels tend to fall off after some while.

Still it was a great first for Victor. It really worked!
